Barbados Port Inc Study Tour of the Jamaica Port System - Hosted by The Port Authority of Jamaica

In May 2022, Team #PortAuthorityJa (PAJ) was pleased to welcome and host a high level public & private sector port industry delegation from Barbados Port Inc.

The PAJ is considered a global and regional leader in facilitating seamless business processes and integration across its port community through its Jamaica Port Community System (PCS), a system that was recognised this year by the World Bank as one of the most successful port digital solutions in the world and featured as a 'best practice.'

The #BarbadosPortInc is tasked with the responsibility of improving the trading environment in Barbados, and is in the process of developing a PCS at the Port of Bridgetown. The main goal of their visit here - a study tour - was to sensitise private and public sector officers in Barbados on international best practices in the operation of a #PCS.

The delegation included representatives from the Barbados Port Inc, the Shipping Association of Barbados, and regulatory agencies such as Customs and the Ministry of Agriculture.

During their visit they toured various terminal facilities within Kingston, and had meetings with several key stakeholders.
